Lost Girl of the Week: Katie Corbett

Lost Girls — By on January 7, 2006 at 11:18 am

In short, a Lost Girl is any woman travelling the road of self discovery. That may mean changing jobs, or addresses or both-like our Lost Girl of the Week, Katie Corbett. We’re giving her props for having the guts to leave her hometown of Syracuse, New York after almost 23 years (her birthday is June 21st) and moving to Tampa, Florida. She found an apartment, took a nursing job at Tampa General Hospital and signed up for classes at the University of Tampa (to up her degree from registered nurse to bachelor’s of nursing)-all in less than a week. Her motivation for making a big move? She wanted to get a fresh perspective by changing her scenery and mingling with new people. Go Lost Girl!

Are you a Lost Girl? Do you know a woman who is? To nominate her, write 150 words or less about why she fits the bill and email to lostgirlsworld@gmail.com.

    Holly,

I would like to nominate Lulu Lumis Fargo Balls Butnik Barnes as a Lost Girl
of the week. This is an unusual request for a lost girl of the week because
she is a dog. She has recently moved to Tampa with her mom…the current
Lost Girl of the Week!–Katie Corbett!

After bouncing from house to house while in Syracuse, traveling day to day
from her Father’s house in Camillus NY, to her Grandma’s house in Geddes,
she recently made the jump from the unpredictable weather of the northeast,
to the 94 degree weather on the gulf coast of Florida! This was a big step
for her. After a stressful flight to Florida, including being packed into a
8″x15″ carry-on bag, she concluded her venture in Tampa to live amongst
dangerous wild animals including alligators, lizards, and giant mosquitoes.
What’s more, most of the dogs in Tampa speak Spanish! I am sure this will
be a learning and memorable experience for her. Luckily for her, with her
great personality, she has already made many new dog friends – even with the
    language barrier!

You can surely see from above, why I nominate Lulu as the upcoming lost girl
    of the week.

Have a safe trip, and I hope to hear all about it in the months to come.

    -Chris
