Look up in the sky! It’s a bird….it’s a plane! No….it’s your weekly air travel news! Here’s what’s happening in the world of aviation, from the ground up.

JetBlue Fare Sale

If you can act quickly, need to fly in the early summer and can be a bit flexible with your flight dates and times, Jet Blue has a deal for you!  Jet Blue is one of the most pleasant airlines to fly on these days given their generous (ie, no fee for the first checked bag) baggage allowance, leather seats and free in-flight DIRECTV.  Until June 1 you can also score a great fare.

Are the seats that comfortable?

A woman who fell asleep on a United Express flight earlier this week is suing United for, among other things, false imprisonment.  She was found, sleeping in her seat, by the aircraft cleaning crew over 3 hours after the flight landed.  You’d think she would just be happy that she had a comfortable enough seat to be able to sleep!

Non-stop to New Zealand

It’s still more than a year away, but starting in November, 2011 we here in the US will have another option to fly non-stop to Auckland, New Zealand.  Continental Airlines announced a new Houston-Auckland route to coincide with the arrival of their new Boeing 787 aircraft.  The Boeing 787 is purported to be more fuel efficient and allow more humidity in the passenger cabin to make for a more comfortable flight.  It’s all good if we can get to the Land Down Under more quickly and with less hassle.
