Fashion Travel Tip: Bangkok’s Backpacker-Style Blunders

This backpacker in Bangkok scored her clothes from the garbage. Not kidding. Sure, city smog, sleeping on trains, washing (and rewashing) clothes in hostel sinks tends to wear on the wardrobe. Understandably, style is probably a low priority for most backpackers since backpacking requires a low-maintenance mindset. And no one wants to haul around a closet on their back. But, bad fashion is still bad fashion whether you’re traveling or not…

Quick Fashion Travel Tip:

Black jeans are totally underrated. You can wear them with any color top.  Black jeans fit in on the dance floor of a club, and they’re perfect for day-wear. Plus, they look dressier than blue jeans so you can avoid the grunge without sacrificing comfort for style. Black jeans hide dirt and stains, and darker denim makes your legs look longer and leaner. Mix and match with few colored shirts, and add chunky jewelry to accessorize. This way you can create several different outfits and stay comfortable at the same time.

Jeans are tougher to backpack with because they’re heavy, hard to hand clean and uncomfortable when wet. But of the jean family, black jeans are the most versatile and practical… Worthwhile bringing along.

  • I totally agree. I shudder looking at pictures of some of my past travel fashion blunders. I wrote a post on things I think are easy to travel with but still keep you from looking like a hobo. Forever 21 has become my go-to source because they’re cheap clothes that you don’t mind losing/ripping/staining but are still cute. http://www.carolineinthecityblog.com/2010/08/backpacker-chic.html

I didn’t pack jeans for a long time because I thought they would take up too much space in my bag, but when I finally bought them, I didn’t know how I did without them! They were great for fitting in better and I can wear them with anything. The right jeans can be perfect for the trip!

That’s so mean to make those comments about the girl……look at her amazing bright smile, it totally outshines her clothes!! Having lived in Thailand for almost 2 years, let me tell you it takes quite a while to adjust to the climate in order to feel comfortable wearing jeans especially tight ones! It’s just too hot there, and on the dancefloor……come on, people are melting!! The only girls who manage to look good in denim are Thai ladies because their hair stays perfect & their makeup doesn’t slide off – unlike us poor unfortunate flat haired shiny faced westerners!! So I don’t think packing jeans is a great idea unless you’re gonna stay for a few months……denim skirts look cute tho everyone wears them!

  • Definitely consider that that you stated. Your favourite justification appeared to be on the net the simplest thing to consider of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed whilst people consider issues that they just do not recognize about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest and also defined out the whole thing with no need side effect , other folks can take a signal. Will likely be again to get more. Thank you
