Southwest Does It Again

Leave it to the folks at Southwest to take a great idea and NOT screw it up.  The airline is in the process of outfitting their entire fleet with Wi-Fi capability.  32 aircraft are currently enabled, 60 expected by the end of the year and the rest by the end of 2012.  And the best part is the cost to the passengers – get this! – a flat rate of $5 regardless of device or duration of flight.  Something passengers want at a fair price…what a concept!

On The Flip Side

Not to pick on the big boys, but the 2009 Airline Quality Report (AQR) shows us just who isn’t doing such a great job.  The criteria measured by the surveyed airline industry experts included delays and mishandled luggage among others.  Clearly, the airlines on this list could take a lesson from their non-traditional competition.
