Foodie Fuel, Marathon edition
The New York City Marathon saw many famous faces this past Sunday. But as I, an average spectator, watched the 40,000 people race through the five boroughs and 26.2 miles I couldn’t help but think about the culinary few.
Food & Wine checked in with three of New York’s favorite running chefs and sommeliers to ask about their fuel, training, and charities. Read more here.
In Search of Wine (There’s an App for That)
Chow.com reports that Snooth, the popular “wine-everything” just released a wine app, allowing winos everywhere to search for wine and compare prices right from their iPhone. For $4.99, simply take a snapshot of a wine label, and the app will identify it, price it, and give you the option of figuring out where to buy it. You can also save your wine find for future reference or search for others. It’s not kink-proof, like most, but for serious wine enthusiasts it may be a sound investment.
Burritos in Hong Kong
Good Chinese food can be found seemingly anywhere, good Mexican food, not so much. Lucky for Hong Kong residents or visitors, there’s Mr. Taco Truck. In the middle of the Quarry Bay district, this small restaurant serves up traditional Mexican fare with fresh ingredients and attention to detail. Gracias a Calvin Tse for its creation and Campus Fork for its review.
Baked with Love
The holiday season is just beginning and gift-giving stress is already in the air. How about a cheap yet thoughtful gift that’ll be perfect for everyone on your list? Enter, baked goods. The foodie blogosphere’s Cowboy’s Wife, also known as Lori, offers a delectable and healthy mini pumpkin bread loaf recipe, video and all. Let the baking cheer begin!
