Look up in the sky! It’s a bird….it’s a plane! No….it’s your weekly air travel news! Here’s what’s happening in the world aviation, from the ground up.

Should The Fox Be Guarding The Hen House?

TSA has never been a source of happiness for travelers.  Now those with the anti-TSA opinions have gone so far as to suggest that the airlines themselves, not the government, be responsible for airport security.  While I’m not sure this would solve any of the problems we travelers experience under the current regime, it would make for a shifting of the blame. Starbucks In The Skies

If you, like so many of us, are addicted to your Starbucks, you don’t have to abandon all hope when flying.  Several airlines, both big and small, offer the java after take-off.  On some of these airlines it’s even free as part of their in-flight beverage service, while with others there’s an extra cost.  But does it really matter at 6 a.m. when you’re stuck in the air and have a craving?  Source:  Jaunted

Much Ado About Nothing

If you’re headed to Europe, or are there now and planning on heading out soon, not to worry.  The ash cloud from this year’s Icelandic volcano eruption has, well, fizzled.  After last year’s eruption that stranded an estimated 10 million passengers, aviation officials both here and abroad were concerned that this year we would see a repeat performance.  This year’s eruption only produced ash clouds at very low altitudes and the majority of it over water.  Source:  MSNBC

He Couldn’t Find A Better Pickup Line?

I don’t know about you, but if you’re trying to impress me, the line “I have a canister full of poison gas and I’m not afraid to use it” wouldn’t work.  And it didn’t work for a woman confronted with a fellow passenger who tried to use it on a Delta Airlines flight.  She wisely alerted the flight attendant and her seat mate soon found himself in hand-cuffs and facing charges.  Here’s a tip guys:  Threats of terrorism aren’t likely to get you very far. That’s just hilarious. I mean how can someone come up with a pickup line like that 🙂

    Crazy, right?

  • I am wondering if anyone knows what is up with the older couple resting in the bathtubs at the beginning and end of the Cialis commercials. I understand them resting, watching a sunset, but why are they sitting in bathtubs rather then a beach chair or something? Why not in a gazebo or a hot tub as opposed to a regular tub? NE1 got a guess? I am open to any answer.
