Look up in the sky! It’s a bird….it’s a plane! No….it’s your weekly air travel news! Here’s what’s happening in the world of aviation, from the ground up.
Some people never travel without their laptop, some never travel without their golf clubs. If you’re of the latter variety, there’s no need to deny your urges while on a layover. If you plan it right you could sneak in a few holes between flights. Whether you’re in metro areas or further afield, there may be a course nearby. Some of these greens’ fees are so reasonable you may even end up scheduling a longer layover. Source: Jaunted
Hero Of The Century
Few people would argue that Captain “Sully” Sullenberger is one of the true heroes of our time. In case you’re in need of a refresher, Captain Sully is the US Airways pilot who successfully landed his aircraft on the Hudson River a couple of years ago. Captain Sully has signed on to be the voice of aviation safety for the CBS Evening News. I can’t think of too many other people who are more qualified for the position. Source: Gadling
No Radiation Worries
According to an announcement made by the TSA last week, even frequent fliers are not at risk for radiation overdose from the oh-so-hated body scanners. The amount of radiation emitted by a scan is substantially less than that of a chest X-ray as well as being well below the accepted safe exposure limits. Source: Airport International
Meet Me Half-Way
It’s an argument that will probably never be decided; who owns the armrests when there is a person seated in the middle seat? Even etiquette experts are at odds with the answer. Flight attendants admit to being fed up with having to be called in to referee the battle at times. ‘Share’ is their answer, but we all know that’s easier said than done. I personally fall on the side of letting the middle person have both armrests. What about you? Source: USAToday
