Look up in the sky! It’s a bird….it’s a plane! No….it’s your weekly air travel news! Here’s what’s happening in the world of aviation, from the ground up.
10 Years Later
A lot about air travel has changed since the devastation of 10 years ago. Some of it – more scrutiny at security, for example – was probably long overdue. But overall, the changes that the airlines have implemented since that fateful day have less to do with safety and more to do with making money. As for the passengers, heading to the airport for a flight sometimes takes on the tone of readying for a fight. Source: USAToday
ATL On The Sly
Atlanta’s Hartsfield Airport is the busiest in the US. Hordes of passengers stream in and out and around all day (and night). And if you’ve ever tried to make a tight connection, you also know just how large it is. But there are some tips and tricks you can make use of next time you find yourself in this airport maze. My favorite is number 6: Minute Suites. Source: CNN
Another Layer Of Security (Or Another Endless Delay)
As if airport screening processes didn’t take long enough. A test is underway at Boston’s Logan Airport, Terminal A security. The TSA officials will now get chatty with the passengers attempting to just get through and go about the business of boarding a flight. The intent is to “identify potentially high-risk passengers.” Or maybe they just want some small talk before they feel you up. Source: Airwise
More Passenger Protection
The law to protect airline passengers from undue tarmac delays, as well as others, are being expanded as of today. Almost a year and a half ago these rules were implemented to save passengers from the horrors of endless tarmac delays and insufficient compensation in the case of denied boarding. It’s sad to me that it takes an act of Congress to make these humane changes happen and that the airlines were unwilling to make them. Source: Travel Weekly
