Look up in the sky! It’s a bird….it’s a plane! No….it’s your weekly air travel news! Here’s what’s happening in the world of aviation, from the ground up.

Thanksgiving Travel

Steer clear of LAX, Chicago’s O’Hare and the Orlando airport over the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. At least, that’s what Orbitz advises. Of course, we can’t always choose where we fly into/out of, or especially through. But if you do have a choice some of the smaller, less congested airports are your best bet. As always, being prepared before and during your trip to the airport will ease the stress somewhat too.  Source:  Cheapflights

Airline Fees

With the busy holiday travel season just a short while away, chances are you’ll be taking a flight somewhere. As if the ticket itself isn’t expensive enough, the add-on fees are really what you need to watch out for. From which seat you choose to baggage to changing a ticket, they’ll get you one way or another. Keep track of what’s included and what’s not and you can save yourself some $$.  Source:  Matador Network

Cockroaches In The Cabin

This falls under the category of totally gross. Air Tran is being sued for $100,000 by a North Carolina couple who says they were traumatized by cockroaches coming out of the air ducts on a recent flight. Apparently, photos will augment the allegations. One wonders if more passengers on the flight will come forward as well. If there’s $100,000 to be had, odds are they will.  Source:  International Business Times

Pilot Prank

What was presumably a stunt for a television show went wrong last weekend in Auckland, New Zealand. A man dressed in a pilot’s uniform attempted to breach the airport security to gain access to a restricted area of the airport. The man fled when challenged by security officials. Three individuals from an independent film company will be facing charges. Airport security…you just don’t mess with that these days.  Source:  Journey ETC
