Whether you have a big event or a big date to get ready for, what you probably don’t have is a lot of time. That’s why I’m loving Salon Ziba near the Hudson (a remodeled YMCA), Empire (gorgeous rooftop bar!) and Wellington (perfectly located between Central Park and the theater district) hotels. When Jen, Amanda, and I had to film our Lost Girls author video for the Harper Collin’s website last week smack in the middle of the day, I had only enough time to leave the office during my lunch hour to film the segment. That left no time to get my nails done or hair blown out-two things that always make me feel more confident on camera.

That’s when an editor friend recommended I visit Salon Ziba. They take walk-ins and early-morning appointments so I could stop by before work. And, unlike a lot of midtown full-service salons that offer both high-quality results and convenience, they’re actually affordable-blowouts start at just $38. While I was getting one of the best blowouts ever by Filipe, another beauty specialist gave me a perfect polish change at the same time. I actually made it to my office five minutes early and felt good during filming when lunchtime rolled around.

Salon Ziba offers everything from makeup applications to keratin straightening treatments to Brazilian bikini waxes to deep-cleaning facials. In honor of their 20th anniversary, they’re offering $20 treatments on the 20th of every month. Even if you don’t have a big event to go to, it’s a fun place to come with a group of friends for an afternoon of pampering because everyone can get a different treatment.
