Bright Yellow Bunny Statue Bounds into Orebro, Sweden
Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman built this giant, 13-meter-high yellow bunny using local materials and craftsmen as part of the openART biennale in Orebro, Sweden. Austin Goes Batty for its 7th annual Bat Festival
Since the 1980s, Austin has been the seasonal home to the world’s largest urban bat colony, making it apt that the city would host its 7th annual Bat Fest in honor of the 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats. Bat-watching has become a popular past time for locals and tourists alike: On an average summer day anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 bat-watchers gather in downtown Austin to see the bats emerge at night; during Batfest that number is 40,000.
