Hotels in major cities can cost upwards of $300 a night. While you probably don’t want to blow your trip budget all on a bed, you also don’t want to sacrifice comfort and proximity to your destination’s trendiest neighborhoods. Here we’ve rounded up three hotels that prove that at reasonable rates, quality doesn’t necessarily have to be sacrificed.
TRENDY BUDGET HOTEL #1 – NEW YORK CITY’S THE JANE HOTEL
Starting with the East Coast, if your goal is to find a hotel that is conveniently located by a countless array of trendy restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and boutiques, then The Jane may just be the place for you. Located in New York City’s West Village, this so called “hip and young” hotel is adjacent to the Meatpacking District and within walking distance of neighborhoods such as Chelsea, Soho, and Union Square. The rooms, inspired by luxury travel cabins, are quite cozy at just 50 square feet each, with thin mattresses, and bathrooms located down the hall. Nonetheless, they come equipped with other amenities that include air conditioning, free wireless internet access, flat screen TVs, DVD players, and a bustling lobby bar bursting with international travelers and locals alike. If the idea of sharing a communal bathroom just doesn’t cut it for you, Captain’s Cabins which are 250 square feet each with private baths are available for an additional $151.

Rates: $99 for single cabins without bathrooms, $125 for doubles, $250 for rooms with bathrooms
TRENDY BUDGET HOTEL #2 – SAN FRANCISCO’S CRESCENT HOTEL
On the West Coast, travelers visiting San Francisco in sunny California can stay at the European-influenced Crescent Hotel. The hotel is conveniently located in Union Square so it’s only steps away from shopping, theaters, galleries, and dining options. Rooms in this boutique lodging have their own private baths (a definite plus!) and are much, much roomier than The Jane ranging from 185 square feet to 600 square feet. With an emphasis on comfort, guests can relax and indulge in rooms that contain 400 thread count Sateen linens, flat screen TVs, blackout curtains, and a selective range of bath and body products from Essential Elements. Furthermore, each morning guests can enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast as well as WiFi and an on site spa and salon. Like The Jane Hotel, it also has a cool bar scene, but this one throws back to the era of speakeasies.

TRENDY BUDGET HOTEL #3 – CHICAGO’S THE WILLOWS HOTEL
The Willows Hotel is a chic, European inn with French style decor and European flair located in the one and only Windy City, Chicago. Designated a historical landmark building by the city of Chicago, this traditional yet modern hotel is an ideal location: it’s less than two blocks away from the scenic shores of Lake Michigan and is in the heart of Lincoln Park/Lakeview. Furthermore, because of its centrality, all major tourist attractions can be easily accessed by either train, bus, or taxi. Amenities include: complimentary WiFi, luxury robes, and 24-hour coffee and tea service. In addition, a complimentary continental breakfast is included with each guest’s stay as well as free access to the Bally’s Total Fitness Club.
