Look up in the sky! It’s a bird….it’s a plane! No….it’s your weekly air travel news! Here’s what’s happening in the world of aviation, from the ground up.

Baldwin Behaving Badly

Santa might not be visiting Alec Baldwin this year because he was a naughty boy on a recent American Airlines flight. He not only refused to turn his cell phone off pre-departure (and was belligerent about it) he then unbuckled his seat-belt and locked himself in the lavatory with the phone. All while throwing a sort of a tantrum. Apparently the ‘Words With Friends’ game is so compelling that he just couldn’t put it down. Yeah, he’s 53 years old, not 12.  Source:  Yahoo

FAA Chief Resigns After DUI

The head of the ‘safest aviation system in the world’ has had a not-so-safe incident. Randy Babbitt, the FAA’s Administrator has resigned after his DUI bust last week. While it shouldn’t make too much of a difference to the flying public in the short term, there are concerns that it will negatively impact the future of ongoing aviation projects. Source:  USAToday

American Miles Safe For Now

The recent bankruptcy announcement by American Airlines has left some questions as to what will happen to their frequent flyer program, more specifically, those of us with unused miles. While there is no definitive answer, experience shows that the miles should be honored. For now. If you have outstanding miles your best bet might be to get yourself a ticket booked ASAP.  Source:  CBSNews
